What is the name of the hidden blade's inventor in Assassin's Creed lore?

The story behind the answer

Darius is identified as the inventor of the hidden blade in Assassin's Creed lore.

Darius, whose original name is Artabanus, is a Persian Assassin who appears in the Legacy of the First Blade downloadable story for Assassin's Creed Odyssey. The narrative places him in the fifth century BCE and connects him to the assassination of Xerxes I of Persia. He uses an early hidden blade during that historical event.

The weapon later becomes closely associated with the Hidden Ones and the Assassin Brotherhood. Darius's story establishes that the concealed wrist weapon predates the formal organization founded by Bayek and Aya in Origins. This makes him an important predecessor in the series' fictional chronology.

Darius is sometimes confused with Altaïr, who is credited with improving the hidden blade and changing Assassin equipment traditions much later. Leonardo da Vinci also modified Ezio's hidden blades, but he did not invent the weapon. The game presents Darius as the earliest known inventor within the franchise's lore.
