What is the name of the hammer wielded by Shao Kahn in Mortal Kombat?

Shao Kahn’s weapon in Mortal Kombat is called the Wrath Hammer.

The massive hammer matches Shao Kahn’s identity as an imperial warlord and conqueror. In games such as Mortal Kombat 9 and Mortal Kombat 11, it is used in his attacks, cinematic sequences and story battles. The weapon is visually associated with his helmet, armor and imposing physical design.

Players sometimes describe it generically as a war hammer or maul, but Wrath Hammer is the specific name used for Shao Kahn’s signature weapon in Mortal Kombat material. It is not the same item as a character’s ordinary stage weapon.

Shao Kahn first appeared as the final boss of Mortal Kombat II. Later games expanded his role, titles and history, but the hammer remained one of the clearest visual symbols of his authority over Outworld.
