What is the name of the founder of Jurassic Park?

The story behind the answer

John Hammond is the founder of Jurassic Park. He is the wealthy entrepreneur behind InGen, the company that uses genetic engineering to recreate dinosaurs and build a theme park on Isla Nublar.

Hammond’s plan depends on extracting dinosaur DNA from prehistoric mosquitoes preserved in amber. Scientists fill genetic gaps with frog DNA, allowing InGen to create living animals such as velociraptors, triceratops, and Tyrannosaurus rex. Hammond imagines the park as a spectacular commercial attraction, but the project’s safety systems fail before it can open to the public.

Richard Attenborough played Hammond in the 1993 film. Spielberg’s adaptation makes him more sympathetic than Michael Crichton’s novel, where Hammond is considerably more callous and survives less of the story. In the film, Hammond is also the grandfather of Lex and Tim Murphy.

Hammond is often confused with other major figures: Henry Wu is the chief geneticist, Robert Muldoon is the game warden, and Dennis Nedry is the disgruntled computer programmer. None of them founded the park.
