What is the name of the forest where the Ents live in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth?
Answer
Fangorn Forest
Answer
Fangorn Forest
Fangorn Forest is the forest where the Ents live in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth.
The forest lies at the eastern end of the Misty Mountains, near Isengard and Rohan. It is named for Fangorn, also called Treebeard, one of the oldest Ents. Merry and Pippin enter the forest after escaping from the Orcs who captured them, and their meeting with Treebeard leads to the Ents’ attack on Isengard.
Fangorn is sometimes confused with Mirkwood, the great forest associated with The Hobbit and the Elvenking Thranduil. Lothlórien is the woodland realm ruled by Galadriel and Celeborn, while the Old Forest lies near the Shire. These forests all have distinctive histories, but Fangorn is specifically linked to the Ents and their ancient guardianship of trees.
