What is the name of the Ford Mustang's all-electric SUV variant introduced in 2021?

The story behind the answer

The Ford Mustang’s all-electric SUV variant is the Mustang Mach-E.

Ford unveiled the Mustang Mach-E on November 17, 2019, and sold it as a 2021 model beginning in late 2020. Thus, references to its “2021 introduction” generally mean its 2021 model-year launch rather than the date of its first public reveal. The Mach-E extended the Mustang name into a five-door electric crossover format.

The vehicle is a battery-electric compact crossover with rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions. It uses Ford’s Global Electrified 1 platform, a heavily modified version of the architecture related to the Focus and Escape. Depending on battery, motor and trim, the Mach-E has offered EPA-rated ranges of roughly 211 to 320 miles.

The “Mach-E” name connects the SUV to Mustang performance history, particularly the Mach 1 badge. It is not the Mustang Lightning, Cobra or Mach 1: those names refer either to unrelated Ford branding or combustion-powered Mustang variants. The Mach-E also became the first vehicle sold as part of the Mustang family that was designed exclusively as an electric crossover.
