What is the name of the first Pokémon region?
Answer
Kanto
Answer
Kanto
Kanto is the first Pokémon region.
It is the setting for the original Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow games. Players travel through towns, cities, forests, caves, and routes while collecting Gym Badges and working toward the Pokémon League. Kanto is also home to Professor Oak, Viridian City, Lavender Town, and the Indigo Plateau.
The region’s name was inspired by the real-world Kantō region of Japan, which includes Tokyo and surrounding prefectures. Pokémon’s Kanto is not a literal map of the real region, but several locations and landscape ideas draw on Japanese geography.
Kanto is sometimes confused with the original 151 Pokémon themselves, but the terms refer to different things: Kanto is the setting, while the first-generation Pokédex is the collection of species introduced in that setting. Later games revisited Kanto, including Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen and the Pokémon: Let’s Go titles.
