Who voiced Pikachu in the 2019 live-action film Detective Pikachu?
Answer
Ryan Reynolds
Answer
Ryan Reynolds
Ryan Reynolds voiced Pikachu in the 2019 live-action film Detective Pikachu.
Directed by Rob Letterman, the film is based loosely on the 2016 Nintendo 3DS game Detective Pikachu. Reynolds provided Pikachu’s voice and also performed motion capture for the character, giving this version of Pikachu a talking, wisecracking personality.
The story follows Tim Goodman, played by Justice Smith, as he investigates the disappearance of his father with the help of Detective Pikachu. Unlike the silent or limited-speaking Pikachu usually associated with the anime, this film’s Pikachu communicates in full human speech.
The movie was the first live-action feature film based on the Pokémon franchise. It was released in Japan on May 3, 2019, and in the United States on May 10, 2019. Its cast also included Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe, and Bill Nighy.
