Radiator Springs is the fictional town where Lightning McQueen meets the local residents in Pixar's Cars.
After damaging a road in the town, Lightning is ordered to repair it before leaving. The forced stay changes his priorities and introduces him to characters including Mater, Sally Carrera, Doc Hudson, Ramone, Flo, Luigi, Guido, and Fillmore.
Radiator Springs was inspired by real communities and landmarks along U.S. Route 66. Pixar artists researched the historic highway during a road trip, drawing on its roadside businesses, desert scenery, neon signs, and changing fortunes after newer highways diverted traffic.
The town is located in the fictional Carburetor County. That county name is not the town's name, a common mix-up in questions about the film. Radiator Springs later appears in Cars 2, Cars 3, and Cars on the Road.
