Doc Hudson is the retired race car who becomes a mentor in Pixar’s Cars.
Doc is the town doctor and judge in Radiator Springs, but he once competed as the Fabulous Hudson Hornet. His racing career ended after a serious crash and a difficult recovery, leading him to withdraw from the racing world.
When Lightning McQueen arrives in town, Doc initially distrusts the young racer’s attitude. Their relationship changes after Lightning learns about Doc’s achievements and begins respecting his experience.
Doc Hudson was voiced by Paul Newman in Cars. The character is modeled on the real Hudson Hornet, a car famous for its success in early stock-car racing, including victories associated with the NASCAR Grand National era.
