What is the name of the fictional realm where the Valar live in Tolkien’s legendarium?

The story behind the answer

Valinor is the fictional realm where the Valar live in Tolkien’s legendarium.

Valinor lies in Aman, a land west of Middle-earth. It is home to the Valar, powerful spiritual beings who shape and guard the world, as well as many Elves who traveled there. The region includes Valimar, the city of the Valar, and the Two Trees of Valinor, Telperion and Laurelin.

The history of Valinor is central to The Silmarillion. Melkor, later called Morgoth, destroyed the Two Trees with the help of the giant spider Ungoliant. Their last light was preserved in the Silmarils, jewels created by Fëanor. The destruction also helped set the stage for the exile of many Noldorin Elves.

Valinor is not simply another kingdom in Middle-earth. It belongs to Aman and is associated with the Blessed Realm. Beleriand was an earlier region east of Aman, Mordor was Sauron’s land in Middle-earth, and Númenor was an island kingdom of Men that was later destroyed.
