Rivendell is the fictional realm ruled by Elrond in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.
Also called Imladris, Rivendell is an Elvish refuge in a hidden valley east of the Misty Mountains. Elrond establishes and leads it after fleeing the destruction of Eregion in the Second Age. It becomes a place of healing, learning, and counsel.
Frodo recovers there after being wounded by a Morgul-knife. The Council of Elrond then debates the fate of the One Ring and decides that it must be destroyed. The Fellowship leaves Rivendell after the sword Narsil is reforged as Andúril.
Lothlórien is the woodland realm of Galadriel and Celeborn. Gondolin is a hidden city of the First Age, while Eregion is the Second Age land where the Rings of Power were made.
