What is the name of the fictional language spoken by the Dwarves in Tolkien’s Middle-earth?

The story behind the answer

Khuzdul is the fictional language spoken by the Dwarves in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth.

Tolkien created Khuzdul as the secret language of the Dwarves. Unlike many Elvish languages, it was not generally taught to outsiders, and Dwarves often guarded their personal names and linguistic traditions. The battle cry “Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!” is one of the best-known examples associated with Khuzdul.

Khuzdul should not be confused with the languages of Men or Elves. Westron is the common speech used across much of The Lord of the Rings, while Quenya and Sindarin are major Elvish languages. Tolkien designed Khuzdul with a structure inspired partly by Semitic languages, but it remains a constructed language within his fictional world.
