Treebeard and the Ents live in Fangorn Forest in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.
Fangorn Forest lies at the southern end of the Misty Mountains, near Rohan and Isengard. It is one of the oldest forests remaining in Middle-earth and contains trees that have witnessed long stretches of history. The Ents, ancient tree-like beings, gather there under the leadership of Treebeard.
Merry and Pippin meet Treebeard after escaping from the Orcs who captured them. Their conversations help awaken the Ents to Saruman’s destruction of the surrounding forests. The Ents then march on Isengard, a major turning point in the War of the Ring.
Fangorn is often confused with Mirkwood, which lies farther north and is associated with Thranduil’s Elves and the journey in The Hobbit. Lothlórien is another Elvish woodland, while the Old Forest lies near the eastern edge of the Shire.
