What is the name of the fictional country ruled by King Tirian in C.S. Lewis’s final Narnia novel?

The story behind the answer

King Tirian rules the fictional country of Narnia in C.S. Lewis’s final Narnia novel, The Last Battle.

Published in 1956, The Last Battle is the seventh book in the original publication sequence of the Chronicles of Narnia. Tirian is Narnia’s last king in the main historical era described by the series. The plot concerns a false Aslan, political deception, and the final destruction and renewal of Narnia.

Narnia is often confused with neighboring lands in the series. Archenland lies south of Narnia, while Calormen is a powerful empire farther south. Telmar is another country connected with Narnian history, especially in Prince Caspian. The Last Battle won the Carnegie Medal in 1957, making it the only Narnia book to receive that major British children’s literature prize.
