What is the name of the fictional Assassin's Creed film protagonist played by Michael Fassbender?

The story behind the answer

Callum Lynch is the fictional Assassin's Creed film protagonist played by Michael Fassbender.

The 2016 film follows Callum Lynch, a man who is recruited by Abstergo Industries and connected to the Animus. Through the device, he experiences the memories of his fifteenth-century Spanish ancestor, Aguilar de Nerha, an Assassin active during the Spanish Inquisition.

Michael Fassbender plays both Callum and Aguilar. The film uses the ancestral-memory concept from the games but tells a new story rather than directly adapting one game's campaign. Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, and Michael K. Williams also appear in the cast.

Callum should not be confused with Desmond Miles, the central modern-day character of several early games. Aguilar is also not the film's modern protagonist: he is Callum's ancestor whose memories Callum relives. The movie was directed by Justin Kurzel and released in December 2016.
