What is the name of the father of Aragorn?

The story behind the answer

What is the name of the father of Aragorn? Aragorn's father was Arathorn II, a Dúnadan of the North and the fifteenth Chieftain of the Dúnedain. He married Gilraen, and their son Aragorn was born in the year 2931 of the Third Age. Aragorn was therefore descended from the line of Isildur and was heir to the lost kingdom of Arnor.

Arathorn II held leadership during a dangerous period, when the Dúnedain protected Eriador as Rangers. He became chieftain in 2930, but his rule lasted only three years. In 2933, while pursuing Orcs with the sons of Elrond, Arathorn was shot in the eye by an Orc arrow and died. Aragorn was only two years old.

After Arathorn's death, Gilraen took Aragorn to Rivendell. Elrond fostered him there and renamed him Estel, meaning “Hope,” concealing his identity from enemies. Arathorn's death explains why Aragorn grew up without his father and why Elrond became such an important guardian in his early life. Denethor was the Steward of Gondor, while Isildur was Aragorn's distant ancestor, not his father.
