The episode in which Rick finds Morgan Jones alive during season 3 is “Clear.” It is the twelfth episode of the third season and originally aired on March 3, 2013.
Rick, Carl, and Michonne return to Rick’s hometown to search for weapons before the conflict with the Governor. They discover that the masked, heavily armed survivor defending the area is Morgan, the first person Rick met after waking from his coma in the series premiere, “Days Gone Bye.”
Morgan has become psychologically unstable after losing his son, Duane, who was bitten by Morgan’s reanimated wife. The episode’s title refers to Morgan’s repeated effort to “clear” the town of walkers, as well as his attempt to clear his mind and sever himself from painful attachments. “Clear” is also notable for deepening Michonne’s relationship with Rick and Carl, and it is widely regarded as one of season 3’s character-driven episodes.
