What is the name of the Elvish queen who gives Frodo a Phial in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings?

The story behind the answer

Galadriel is the Elvish queen who gives Frodo a Phial in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

Galadriel rules Lothlórien with Celeborn and receives the Fellowship after they leave Moria. She tests the members of the company, offers them gifts, and gives Frodo a crystal vessel containing the light of Eärendil’s star. The Phial later helps Sam and Frodo in Shelob’s lair and represents hope in places overwhelmed by darkness.

Galadriel is one of the oldest and most powerful Elves remaining in Middle-earth. She possesses Nenya, one of the three Elven Rings, which helps preserve and protect Lothlórien. Her long history reaches back to the First Age and the ancient Elven realms of Valinor and Middle-earth.

Arwen is another important Elven woman, but she gives Frodo no Phial. Éowyn is a human woman of Rohan, and Lúthien belongs chiefly to the First Age tales. Galadriel’s gift is therefore a specific scene and a distinctive artifact.
