What is the name of the Elvish language Tolkien developed from a Finnish-inspired linguistic tradition?

The story behind the answer

Quenya is the Elvish language J.R.R. Tolkien developed from a tradition strongly inspired by Finnish.

Tolkien began constructing Quenya during the 1910s, when he was creating the linguistic foundations of his mythology. Finnish influenced its sound and grammar, while Latin and Greek also contributed to aspects of its development. In Tolkien’s fictional history, Quenya was associated especially with the High Elves and was treated as an ancient, formal language.

Quenya is not the same as Sindarin, another major Elvish language in Tolkien’s writings. Sindarin became the everyday language of many Elves in Middle-earth, while Quenya had a more elevated and historical role. Tolkien created vocabulary, grammar, writing systems, and historical changes for his languages, making them much more elaborate than collections of invented words.
