What is the name of the Elvish language Tolkien created as the language of the Noldor?

The story behind the answer

Quenya is the Elvish language Tolkien created as the language of the Noldor.

Within Tolkien’s linguistic history, Quenya is associated especially with the Noldor, a major group of Elves. It was influenced in its design by Finnish, and Tolkien developed its vocabulary, grammar and historical forms over many years. In the fictional history of Middle-earth, Quenya was an ancient and prestigious language rather than the everyday speech of all Elves.

Sindarin is the main language readers encounter among many Elves in The Lord of the Rings, but it is a different language, associated primarily with the Sindar and influenced by Welsh in Tolkien’s design. The two names are therefore frequently confused.

Adûnaic was the language of Númenor, while Khuzdul was the secret language of the Dwarves. Quenya’s role, sound and linguistic ancestry make it one of Tolkien’s most extensively developed invented languages.
