What is the name of the elimination ceremony in 'Survivor' where contestants vote privately?

The story behind the answer

In Survivor, the elimination ceremony where contestants vote privately is called Tribal Council.

At Tribal Council, members of the losing tribe meet with the host and answer questions about camp life, strategy, challenges, and alliances. They then vote privately to eliminate one of their tribemates. The votes are read aloud, and the contestant receiving the required majority leaves the game.

Tribal Council changes after the merge. Before the merge, an entire tribe usually attends and votes together. After the merge, individual contestants compete for immunity, and the group votes as a single merged tribe. Eliminated players may later form the jury that helps decide the winner.

The ceremony is different from a challenge. Challenges determine rewards or immunity, while Tribal Council is where the game’s elimination vote occurs. Survivor premiered in the United States in 2000 and was adapted from the Swedish format Expedition Robinson.
