The Dwarvish language in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth is called Khuzdul.
Khuzdul is the secret language of the Dwarves. Tolkien gave it a distinctive sound and structure, drawing inspiration from Semitic languages while keeping it separate from the Elvish tongues that receive more attention in the stories.
Dwarves generally guarded Khuzdul from outsiders. As a result, the novels contain relatively few examples, including the battle cry “Baruk Khazâd! Khazâd ai-mênu!” and the inscription associated with the West-gate of Moria.
Khuzdul is often confused with the Black Speech, which was created for Sauron, or with Westron, the Common Speech used by many peoples. Adûnaic is another separate language, associated with the Men of Númenor and their descendants.
