What is the name of the dragon defeated by Túrin in J.R.R. Tolkien’s mythology?

The story behind the answer

Glaurung is the dragon defeated by Túrin in J.R.R. Tolkien’s mythology.

Glaurung is known as the Father of Dragons and appears in the First Age stories collected in The Silmarillion and The Children of Húrin. He serves Morgoth and possesses powerful speech and an ability to dominate the minds of those who meet his gaze. His actions help bring tragedy to Túrin and his family.

Túrin finally confronts Glaurung at Cabed-en-Aras. Using a sword, Túrin kills the dragon from below, but Glaurung’s final words deepen the curse surrounding Túrin’s life. Glaurung is distinct from Smaug, the dragon in The Hobbit, and Ancalagon the Black, another enormous dragon from the First Age.
