What is the name of the Doctor's time-traveling spaceship?

The story behind the answer

The Doctor’s time-travelling spaceship is called the TARDIS, an acronym for “Time And Relative Dimension in Space.” In Doctor Who, it is both a spacecraft and a time machine used to travel through the universe and across history.

The Doctor’s TARDIS usually appears as a blue British police box. Its chameleon circuit was designed to change the exterior so the craft could blend into its surroundings, but a malfunction left it permanently resembling a 1960s London police box. That distinctive appearance became one of the programme’s most recognisable images.

The TARDIS is famously “bigger on the inside,” with an interior that is vastly larger than its exterior suggests. Its central control room, corridors and other rooms have changed appearance across different eras of the show, while the ship itself is portrayed as partly alive and connected telepathically to its Time Lord pilot.

Gallifrey is the Doctor’s associated home planet, the Time Vortex is the medium through which time travel occurs, and a Dalek is an enemy species. None is the name of the spaceship.
