What is the name of the detention day in The Breakfast Club?

The story behind the answer

The detention day in The Breakfast Club is Saturday.

The 1985 film begins with five students arriving at Shermer High School on a Saturday to serve detention. They come from different school stereotypes: the athlete, the brain, the criminal, the princess and the basket case.

Principal Richard Vernon supervises the group while they write an essay about who they think they are. As the day continues, the students talk about family pressure, school status, fear and identity, discovering that their labels conceal more complicated lives.

John Hughes wrote and directed the film. Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy play the five students. The title refers to their Saturday detention gathering, not to a regular school club. The movie’s closing song, “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” became strongly associated with the film.
