What is the name of the club that organizes Punxsutawney Phil's predictions?

The story behind the answer

The club that organizes Punxsutawney Phil’s predictions is the Inner Circle of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club.

Members are recognizable during the February 2 ceremony by their formal black coats and top hats. The Inner Circle maintains the event’s traditions, presents Phil at Gobbler’s Knob, and announces whether his shadow supposedly means six more weeks of winter or an early spring.

According to the ceremony’s folklore, Phil communicates in “Groundhogese.” The Inner Circle’s president is traditionally said to be the only person who can understand him, using an old cane as part of the ritual. In practice, the event is a carefully staged civic tradition built around playful suspension of disbelief.

The celebration formally began in Punxsutawney in 1887, although the shadow-prediction custom draws on older European Candlemas weather lore. “The Groundhog Society” and “The Weather Bureau” are plausible-sounding distractors, not the club’s canonical name.
