Redd is the character who sells fake art in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Redd is a sly orange fox who arrives aboard the Treasure Trawler, a boat anchored at the island’s secret beach. He sells paintings and statues, but some are genuine while others are forgeries. Before purchasing, players can inspect each piece closely for visual differences, such as altered details, unusual markings, or changes to the subject’s expression.
Genuine art can be donated to Blathers for the museum’s art gallery. Counterfeit pieces cannot be donated, although they can still be displayed or used as furniture. Redd normally offers several pieces during a visit, but the player can buy only one artwork per day from his trawler.
Redd is often confused with other traveling merchants. Saharah sells rugs, wallpaper, and flooring; Kicks sells shoes and accessories; and Leif sells plants and gardening supplies. Only Redd specializes in paintings and sculptures, including their deceptive fake versions.
