What is the name of the central lion in C.S. Lewis’s Narnia series?

The story behind the answer

Aslan is the central lion in C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia series.

Aslan is the creator and great ruler of Narnia. He appears throughout the series as a powerful, wise, and benevolent figure who guides characters and acts at crucial moments in Narnian history. His name comes from the Turkish word for “lion.”

His most important early appearance is in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, where he returns to oppose the White Witch and gives his life in place of Edmund Pevensie. He is restored through the deeper magic and leads the fight to free Narnia.

Aslan is widely understood as a Christian allegorical figure, although Lewis described the Narnia stories as imaginative fiction rather than a simple one-to-one allegory. He also appears in The Magician’s Nephew, where he sings Narnia into existence.
