What is the name of the cat in the Woman Yelling at a Cat meme? The cat is named Smudge.
Smudge is a domestic cat from Ottawa, Ontario, photographed sitting at a dining table with a plate of salad in front of him. His apparently offended or bewildered expression became the right-hand image in the meme, paired with a still of Taylor Armstrong from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills yelling and pointing.
The two images originated separately. Smudge’s photograph was posted to Tumblr in June 2018 with the caption “He no like vegetals.” The combined meme first circulated widely in 2019, after users placed the pictures side by side and added captions about arguments, misunderstandings, and incompatible reactions.
A common mistake is to identify the cat by the meme’s descriptive title rather than by his real name. Smudge is the cat; Taylor Armstrong is the woman shown on the left. The meme’s popularity also led to merchandise, social-media accounts, and charity fundraising connected with Smudge. Cole, Maru, and Lil Bub are different internet-famous cats.
