Who drew the original Trollface rage comic character in 2008?
Answer
Carlos Ramirez
Answer
Carlos Ramirez
Carlos Ramirez drew the original Trollface rage comic character in 2008.
Ramirez created Trollface in Microsoft Paint on September 19, 2008, when he was an 18-year-old college student from Oakland. He posted it on his DeviantArt account, Whynne, as part of a comic called “Trolls,” which mocked the pointless behavior associated with internet trolling.
Ramirez then posted the image to 4chan, where users rapidly copied and repurposed it. The face became a standard rage-comic character and a visual shorthand for deliberately provoking people online. It spread from 4chan to Reddit, Urban Dictionary, Imgur, Facebook, and other meme communities.
The other names in the choices are creators of different famous internet images: KC Green made “This Is Fine,” Christopher Torres created Nyan Cat, and Matt Furie created Pepe the Frog. Trollface’s creator also registered the work with the U.S. Copyright Office in 2010 and later earned licensing revenue from it.
