The Canadian version of the investment programme is called Dragons' Den.
Canada’s Dragons' Den premiered on CBC Television in 2006. Like the British edition, it features entrepreneurs presenting businesses to a panel of wealthy investors and negotiating for investment in return for equity. The Canadian programme uses the same title family as the British adaptation rather than adopting the American title Shark Tank.
The Canadian Dragons have changed over time. Prominent investors have included Kevin O'Leary, Robert Herjavec, Arlene Dickinson, Jim Treliving and W. Brett Wilson. The panel’s composition and the businesses featured reflect the Canadian market, but the central pitch format remains recognisable across editions.
The title can cause confusion because the United States adaptation is called Shark Tank, while Australia also used the title Shark Tank for its later version. Canada retained “Dragons' Den,” making it one of the clearest examples of the format preserving the British naming convention.
