What is the name of the Canadian version of the British TV format Dragons' Den?
Answer
Dragons' Den
Answer
Dragons' Den
The Canadian version of the television format is also called Dragons' Den.
Canada’s Dragons' Den is a business reality programme in which entrepreneurs pitch companies, products and funding requests to a panel of Canadian investors. As in the British edition, the investors can offer money for an ownership stake, negotiate different terms or decline to participate.
The shared title reflects the format’s use of “dragons” for its investors. This differs from the United States adaptation, Shark Tank, where the panel members are called sharks. Although the titles differ, the underlying pitch-and-investment structure comes from the same international television format.
The Canadian programme has its own host, dragons, production history and business stories. It should therefore not be treated as a continuation of the British series. The title is nevertheless identical in the two countries, making the country qualifier important when discussing a particular episode or investor.
