What is the name of the business-pitch show from which the British series Dragon's Den was adapted?

The story behind the answer

The British series Dragon's Den was adapted from the Japanese business-pitch show Money Tigers.

Money Tigers supplied the underlying television format: entrepreneurs appear before wealthy investors, explain their proposition and request funding in exchange for equity. The investors then interrogate the plan and choose whether to negotiate or reject it.

The British adaptation changed the programme's title and its cultural setting, but retained the core dramatic structure. The animal imagery also changed from tigers to dragons, creating a title that suited the UK version while preserving the idea of powerful investors.

Money Tigers is also referred to by its Japanese title, Money no Tora. That alternate name can cause uncertainty in trivia questions, but the English title generally used when describing the source format is Money Tigers.
