Red Letter Days is the experience-gift business founded by Dragons' Den investor Rachel Elnaugh.
Elnaugh established Red Letter Days in 1989 after identifying demand for presents based on memorable activities rather than conventional physical goods. Customers could buy vouchers for experiences including driving, flying, sporting and leisure activities.
The company became one of Britain’s best-known experience-gift brands and helped establish Elnaugh’s reputation before she joined the original Dragons' Den panel. Its name refers to the traditional expression “red-letter day,” meaning a particularly special or memorable day.
Red Letter Days later experienced financial difficulties and entered administration in 2005. The brand and parts of the business were subsequently acquired by other owners, including Dragons' Den investor Peter Jones. That later ownership does not change Elnaugh’s status as its founder.
