Lunt-Fontanne Theatre
Answer
Lunt-Fontanne Theatre
Disney’s musical The Little Mermaid opened at Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in 2008.
The production began Broadway previews in October 2007 and officially opened at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on January 10, 2008. The theater is on West 46th Street in Manhattan’s Theater District and has hosted several major musical productions.
The stage musical adapted the 1989 animated film and incorporated its familiar songs, including “Part of Your World,” “Under the Sea,” and “Kiss the Girl.” It also added new songs for the stage version and expanded the theatrical world with live performers, costumes, sets, and puppetry.
The Lunt-Fontanne detail is sometimes confused with the musical’s earlier pre-Broadway engagement at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. That tryout occurred before the New York run. The official Broadway production, however, opened at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
