The investment panel on the British programme is commonly called the dragons.
The term comes directly from the programme's title and describes the wealthy businesspeople who listen to pitches and consider making investments. Each dragon brings a different background, such as retail, manufacturing, property, finance, fashion, or technology.
Entrepreneurs must persuade one or more dragons that their business has potential and that the proposed valuation is reasonable. The dragons may ask for a lower price, request a larger ownership stake, or collaborate with another investor.
The terminology differs between international adaptations. In Shark Tank, the investors are called sharks, while the UK programme uses dragons. This distinction is why the answer should be “the dragons,” not a generic word such as investors or the name used by another country's version.
