What is the name of the boy in Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine?
Answer
George Kranky
Answer
George Kranky
The boy in Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine is George Kranky.
George is an imaginative child who lives with his parents and an unpleasant grandmother. When his mother leaves him to look after Grandmother, George decides to make a replacement medicine by combining household products and substances from around the home.
The resulting mixture has wildly unpredictable effects. George gives it to Grandmother, and the story becomes a comic fantasy about experimentation, family conflict and consequences. The book was first published in 1981 and was illustrated by Quentin Blake.
George Kranky is sometimes confused with George’s father, who is also central to the story’s later attempts to recreate the medicine. The surname Kranky identifies the child protagonist and distinguishes him from other Dahl characters with the first name George.
