Answer
That's Why God Made the Radio
The Beach Boys’ 2012 reunion album is That’s Why God Made the Radio.
Released by Capitol Records on June 5, 2012, the album was created to accompany the group’s 50th-anniversary reunion tour. The reunited lineup included Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks. It was the Beach Boys’ twenty-ninth studio album and their first studio release of new original material since 1992’s Summer in Paradise.
Brian Wilson produced the album, collaborating with writers and producers including Joe Thomas. The title came from a remark Wilson made while discussing the sound of an AM radio broadcast coming through a car speaker. Its closing sequence, including “From There to Back Again,” “Pacific Coast Highway,” and “Summer’s Gone,” was designed as a connected, reflective suite.
The album reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200, making it the group’s highest-charting studio album of new material since 1965. It is sometimes confused with The Smile Sessions, which was released in 2011 but documents the unfinished 1960s Smile project rather than the reunion.
