BBC Two originally broadcast the British television show Dragons' Den.
The programme launched on BBC Two in January 2005, placing entrepreneurial pitches within the channel's factual and specialist-entertainment schedule. BBC Two has long been associated with documentaries, factual formats and distinctive factual entertainment, making it a natural home for the series.
The channel name can be confused with BBC One because Dragons' Den became a major mainstream success. However, its original British broadcast home was BBC Two. Later scheduling and repeats do not change the channel that launched the series.
The programme's success also helped establish a wider television franchise. Local versions appeared in several countries, sometimes using the Dragons' Den title and sometimes replacing “Dragons” with a local term such as “Sharks.” The British version retained its original BBC identity.
