Bayek of Siwa becomes the first Mentor of the Hidden Ones in Assassin's Creed Origins.
Bayek is a Medjay from Siwa in Ptolemaic Egypt. After personal losses expose a conspiracy, he and Aya help create the Hidden Ones, an organization dedicated to protecting people from oppressive power. Bayek becomes its first Mentor, while Aya plays a crucial role in establishing the organization and its wider network.
The Hidden Ones are presented as the historical predecessor of the later Assassin Brotherhood. Origins therefore functions as an origin story for the creed's methods, symbols, and ideological language.
Bayek is distinct from later protagonists such as Ezio Auditore, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, and Basim Ibn Ishaq. The title “Mentor” also differs from “Master Assassin,” a rank used in other periods of the series.
