The Eagle Bearer is the title used for the Assassin's Creed Odyssey protagonist, who can be Alexios or Kassandra.
Odyssey lets the player choose Alexios or Kassandra as the central mercenary in ancient Greece. Regardless of that choice, the selected character is known in the story as the Eagle Bearer because of the connection to the legendary Spear of Leonidas and the eagle companion Ikaros.
The term is useful because “Alexios” and “Kassandra” are not simultaneously playable protagonists in one playthrough; they are the two available versions of the character. The player character is also called the Misthios, a Greek term meaning mercenary, but Eagle Bearer is the distinctive story title sought here.
Odyssey was released in 2018 and takes place during the Peloponnesian War. It is set earlier than Origins and focuses on ancient Greece rather than Ptolemaic Egypt.
