Aveline de Grandpré is the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Liberation, a female Assassin operating in 18th-century Louisiana.
Aveline is the daughter of a wealthy French merchant and an enslaved woman in New Orleans. She joins the Assassin Brotherhood and fights Templar influence while navigating the social tensions of French and Spanish Louisiana. Her background gives her access to several identities, each suited to different situations.
Assassin’s Creed Liberation was originally released for the PlayStation Vita in 2012 as a companion title to Assassin’s Creed III. It later received versions for other platforms, including the remastered Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD. Aveline is notable as the series’ first female protagonist in a major playable role, although later games also introduced protagonists such as Evie Frye and Kassandra.
