What is the name of the Assassin’s Creed II protagonist’s uncle who mentors Ezio?

Mario Auditore is Ezio’s uncle and an important mentor in Assassin’s Creed II.

Mario rules the Tuscan town of Monteriggioni and secretly works as an Assassin. After Ezio’s family is targeted, Mario helps him escape Florence, explains more about the conspiracy, and begins guiding him toward the skills and responsibilities of the Brotherhood.

His role combines family support with practical training. Monteriggioni becomes a base for Ezio and his allies, and Mario remains connected to the wider struggle against the Templars. He is voiced by Fred Tatasciore in the English version.

Players sometimes confuse Mario with other figures who assist Ezio, especially Leonardo da Vinci, who provides inventions and technical help. Lorenzo de’ Medici is also important to the plot, but he is a Florentine ruler and ally rather than Ezio’s uncle.
