What is the name of the Assassin brotherhood’s hidden blade in Assassin’s Creed?

The story behind the answer

The Assassin brotherhood’s signature wrist weapon in Assassin’s Creed is the Hidden Blade. It is a concealed spring-loaded blade worn beneath the user’s sleeve and used for close-range assassinations. The weapon became one of the franchise’s defining visual and gameplay elements from the first game onward.

In the original Assassin’s Creed, Altaïr Ibn-LaʼAhad receives an improved version after reforms within the Assassin Order. Earlier versions are associated with the tradition of sacrificing part of the ring finger, although later games reinterpret or remove that requirement through engineering changes. Leonardo da Vinci also helps Ezio improve the mechanism in Assassin’s Creed II.

The Hidden Blade is not the same as the Phantom Blade introduced in Assassin’s Creed Unity. The Phantom Blade is a ranged wrist-mounted weapon that fires small projectiles, while the Hidden Blade remains primarily a silent melee weapon. Different protagonists customize it, but the basic name and concept remain consistent across the series.
