What is the name of the Animus in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag that lets Edward relive memories?

The story behind the answer

Animus Omega is the name of the Animus technology used in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

Black Flag's modern-day sections take place at Abstergo Entertainment, where an unnamed employee explores genetic memories for a pirate-themed entertainment project. The employee uses the Animus Omega to experience the memories of Edward Kenway, a Welsh privateer who becomes involved with Assassins and Templars in the Caribbean.

The modern sections expand the series' idea that Abstergo can commercialize memories rather than merely study them. This creates a connection between the player's historical pirate adventure and the corporation's contemporary media operation.

The name is easy to confuse with Helix, the entertainment platform featured prominently in later Assassin's Creed stories, or with the Bleeding Effect, which describes a consequence of prolonged Animus exposure. Those terms are related to the franchise's technology but are not the Omega device's name.
