The advanced Terminator sent after Dani Ramos in Terminator: Dark Fate is the Rev-9.
The Rev-9 is an infiltrator sent from the future to assassinate Dani Ramos, whose future leadership makes her a threat to the machine intelligence Legion. Gabriel Luna portrays the Rev-9, which can separate its liquid-metal outer form from its endoskeleton and operate as two bodies.
The design builds on ideas introduced by earlier Terminators while giving the antagonist a distinct ability. The T-1000 from Terminator 2 can mimic forms as liquid metal, but the Rev-9 can divide into an endoskeleton and a separate exterior body.
Dark Fate was released in 2019 and presents itself as a direct continuation of the first two films, ignoring the events of several intervening sequels. Linda Hamilton returns as Sarah Connor, and Arnold Schwarzenegger appears as a T-800.
