“Be Our Guest” is the 1991 Beauty and the Beast song sung by Lumière, Mrs. Potts, and the castle servants.
The number welcomes Belle to the castle with a spectacular dinner performance. Lumière leads the song, while the enchanted household objects create a choreographed display involving dishes, cutlery, food, and tableware.
Howard Ashman wrote the lyrics and Alan Menken composed the music for the song. It was conceived as a major production number and became one of the most recognizable sequences in Disney animation because of its rapid movement, visual variety, and theatrical staging.
The song is sometimes confused with “Human Again,” another castle-servant number associated with Beauty and the Beast. “Human Again” was written for the stage musical and later added to the 2002 special edition of the animated film, while “Be Our Guest” is part of the original 1991 movie.
