What is the name of Spider-Man's clone who becomes the Scarlet Spider?
Answer
Ben Reilly
Answer
Ben Reilly
Spider-Man’s clone who becomes the Scarlet Spider is Ben Reilly. Created by the villainous Jackal, Ben is a genetic duplicate of Peter Parker who eventually develops his own identity and becomes an ally rather than an enemy.
Ben first appeared as Peter Parker’s clone in The Amazing Spider-Man #149 in 1975. After surviving a confrontation with Peter, he spent years travelling under the name Ben Reilly, combining Uncle Ben’s first name with Aunt May’s maiden name. When he returned to New York during the 1990s Clone Saga, he adopted the Scarlet Spider identity.
The original Scarlet Spider costume featured a red bodysuit, a blue sleeveless hoodie, a large spider emblem, and specialized web-shooters. Ben later temporarily took over as Spider-Man when Peter retired, but ultimately sacrificed himself to save Peter from the Green Goblin.
Kaine Parker is also a clone of Peter Parker and later uses the Scarlet Spider name, which causes frequent confusion. However, Ben Reilly is the classic and first major Scarlet Spider associated with the identity.
