What is the name of Spider-Man's aunt?

The story behind the answer

Spider-Man’s aunt is May Parker, better known as Aunt May. She is Peter Parker’s paternal aunt by marriage and one of the most important people in his life.

May was originally established as the widow of Ben Parker, Peter’s uncle. After Peter’s parents died, Ben and May helped raise him in Queens. Ben’s murder became the defining tragedy of Peter’s origin, while May remained his emotional anchor and a reminder of the ordinary life he was trying to protect.

For much of Spider-Man’s early history, May did not know Peter’s secret identity. Peter often worried that learning he was Spider-Man would endanger her or cause a serious shock. Later comic-book stories and screen adaptations have varied this relationship: in some versions she discovers the truth, while in others she remains unaware for years.

May Parker is distinct from Mayday Parker, the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson in an alternate future continuity. Betty Brant, Gwen Stacy, and Mary Jane are connected to Peter’s story, but none is his aunt.
