Sony's virtual reality headset for the PlayStation 4 was called PlayStation VR.

Sony first revealed the headset in 2014 under the codename Project Morpheus. It was officially released as PlayStation VR in October 2016, giving PS4 owners a console-based virtual-reality system without requiring a high-end gaming PC.

The first-generation headset used a 5.7-inch OLED display with a combined 1920×1080 resolution, providing 960×1080 pixels per eye. LEDs on the headset were tracked by the PlayStation Camera to estimate the player's head position, while a processor unit handled video output and 3D-audio processing.
